Hsinchu is a fairly crowded city during the day so any chance to actually get out for a walk when everyone is in bed is an interesting contrast for me. On this particular Sunday morning I was out early and enjoying the solitude. This area in the Hsinchu downtown is full of shops catering to young teenagers, teenagers who seem to like the crap that they sell at these two street food carts. I just can't imagine eating the corn dogs I have seen them selling from this stand. Likely I am the odd one out as any other time I have walked by here it has been crowded with kids eating the yellow greasy blech.
Today was a super-typhoon holiday. According to the weather service the typhoon was supposed to have been over the Taiwan strait by now getting ready to terrorize the people on the mainland. But, the typhoon somehow did a complete circle and is hanging around east of here in the mountains. It might be somewhere else too since there seems to be no consensus. Looking at the dark mass of clouds approaching the city, it looks to be a bad night.
