Tough Guys. Hsinchu, Taiwan

These three guys, and the front fella in particular, look like some of the toughest old buggers I have seen in this neighborhood for some time. Perhaps in their youth they were all hitmen in the tradition of the Sicilian mafia. They were the only male musicians I saw and were likely the first noise heard prior to the marching bands at 6am last week.

If you have some time you must check out these old photos from members of the Shu Linkou Air Station. It's a huge collection and a great piece of Taiwan history (http://members.tripod.com/Shulinkou/Dawg1.html). Thanks to Michael Turton for finding these and linking to them on his site.

Found via Forumosa is a small collection of photographs of Taiwan by a person going by Giallo on the Skyscraperpage forum. Beautiful images

Not that it's important, but I'm willing to bet that these three are Hakkanese judging from their facial features.
