This snapshot is of a young Filipina lady posing for someone else who was taking her photograph. It was one of those "quick grab my camera out of my bag" shots. I did apologize for intruding afterwards. I took a number of photographs on Sunday morning, like I usually do, but this time I wanted to try shooting in RAW instead of creating a jpg file. It didn't really go so well and I think I will hold off on using RAW files instead of jpgs. I wrote about my experience on kelake.org and you can read it here.
For quite some time now I have wanted to expand this site to include some environmental sound recordings of the area in which the photograph was taken. The gray box at the top of the first paragraph is my first experiment in trying to do so. It's a bit different than I had originally intended as I will also from time to time include some commentary or stories with regards to the time in question or the shot itself. Hence the title "Podcast".
I really wanted to do something a bit more involved than this but I think this is an experiment in compromise. Sound, voice annotations, photography, and writing all together command far more production time than I alone have at the moment. Keeping things simple and "blog like" allow me to focus on actually creating the "media" vs. spending so much time producing it. This is a bit more "campy" and home made feeling which is not so bad. Perhaps I can eventually try producing a version that you can enjoy on your new fancy iPod video.
Let me know if it sucks. If it doesn't, other than checking back at this site from time to time you can subscribe to the Podcast feed which contains only the podcasts or the site feed which will can all the posts. Alternatively you can also just download todays file (5meg, 5min).
Update: The feeds aren't working entirely the way they should.
